Yoruba Ronu 2: 2023 South West Presidency Absurd And Unjustifiable

Ikenna Asomba,

On June 8, 2018, Yours Truly, wrote a piece entitled, “2019: AGAIN, YORUBA RONU! (YORUBAS THINK)

In that piece, I summarily warned the Great and Good people of the Yoruba Nation to beware of the Greek gift that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration (already hijacked by some cabals known in Nigeria’s political firmament as the KADUNA MAFIANS), was dangling before them by that PHANTOM posthumous award of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (GCFR) conferred on the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola.

Abiola was the winner of the 1993 Presidential election.

The phantom posthumous GCFR award by Buhari, came 20 years after Abiola’s death.

Recall that Abiola, a Yoruba son, died in a mysterious circumstances in 1998, at a time he was about to be released from the Gen. Sanni Abacha’s illegal incarceration.

In that piece, I warned the Yoruba nation that the Buhari Presidency that I have come to know is one that totally operates (Chicago’s old MACHINE POLITICS) of Nepotism and Cronyism, stating that that award was never done in good faith, but just to score cheap political points, particularly as the 2019 elections were underway.

I pointed out that for the fact that Buhari’s support had over the last three and half years waned drastically across the South West region, that PHANTOM GCFR award became necessary to massage the ego of our Yoruba compatriots, as well as play their usual DIVIDE AND RULE politics down South.

In that piece, I warned the Yoruba nation that, that Buhari conferred that posthumous award on Abiola was not a yardstick to tag him a Democrat, like Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his co-travellers wanted them to believe.

Amid the musings that greeted that posthumous GCFR award conferred on Abiola, as well as the proposal to change Nigeria’s Democracy Day from May 29, to June 12, in that piece I told the Yoruba nation that aligning with the Senate, I challenge President Buhari that if he was so sincere about honouring MKO Abiola, he should:

  1. Ensure the release and declaration of the annulled results of the 1993 Presidential poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
  2. Pay Abiola family reparations and all the entitlements due to him as a former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Same with Amb. Babagana Kingibe who is to be recognised henceforth as former Vice President and be paid his accompanying entitlements.
  3. Back up the GCFR Award by sending an Executive Bill for constitutional amendment to that effect.

My dear Yoruba compatriots, SEVEN (7) months after, NOTHING, I mean NOTHING whatsoever has been heard of Abiola again.

It is against this backdrop that Yours Truly, is warning the Yoruba Nation again, which may be the LAST, ahead of the February 16, 2019 Presidential election to look before they leap.

The Yoruba nation comprises of the world’s most sophisticated and cerebral people.

The Yoruba nation has given Nigeria, and the world in general cerebral and eminent Nationalists like the Herbert Macaulays of this world, Chief Obafemi Awolowos of this world, Pa Ayo Adebanjos of this world, et al.

Therefore, the Yoruba nation should not be decieved by politicians like Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Babatunde Fashola, et al, who are going around, lying to them that the Yorubas should again, BLINDLY vote President Buhari, not because of any STERLING PERFORMANCE over the last four years, but because POWER will return to the South West in 2023.

Yours Truly, says, this is a LIE FROM THE PIT OF HELL. No POWER, whatsoever is RETURNING to the South West in 2023.

Kind enough, Truthful Yoruba elders like Dele Sobowale, a renowned pro-Buharist himself, has bared his mind on this issue in his January 6, 2019, column on Vanguard Newspapers, entitled, “TALK OF SOUTH WEST PRESIDENCY IS ABSURD AND UNPATRIOTIC.”

So, needless overflogging the issue.

Be that as it may, how the KADUNA MAFIANS of yester years, (the current power players in Aso Villa), have particularly treated Tinubu, and his god-son, Osinbajo, since May 29, 2015, should be a lesson for our Yoruba compatriots not to be hoodwinked by the phantom promises of returning power to the South West in 2023.

At this auspicious period that Nigeria is already at the crossroad, litanies are needless.

The following headlines are very instructive for the Yoruba nation:

OCTOBER 12, 2018

Conclusuvely, on October 12, 2018, in another piece, entitled, “TIME FOR OUR YORUBA BRETHREN TO RECOMPENSE CANDIDATE ATIKU ABUBAKAR FOR THE SUPPORT HE SHOWED MKO ABIOLA IN 1993,” I reminded the Yoruba nation how Ndigbo in this present democratic dispensation, have supported their own to the Presidency- the President Olusegun Obasanjo administration (1999-2007).

Tied to this I also reminded the Yoruba nation how in 1993, the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, Atiku Abubakar’s political mentor beckoned on him, as a Presidential Hopeful in the Social Democratic Party of Nigeria (SDP), to step down for a Yoruba son, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, who later won that Historic 1993 Presidential Election.

I reminded the Yoruba nation that even when the enemies of the people plotted to scuttle MKO Abiola’s popular mandate, Atiku, was among the few progressives who stood with MKO Abiola, despite the dictatorial threats from the powers that be as at then.

I reminded the Yoruba nation that Atiku Abubakar joined forces with former progressives like this same Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu running him (Atiku) down, today, to fight Dictator Sanni Abacha, Buhari’s man-Friday, ally and former Boss.

I reminded the Yoruba nation to recall that this same President Muhammadu Buhari, whom Tinubu, Osinbajo, Fashola, et al, are advocating for his re-election despite his woeful performances in office, since May 29, 2015, served as the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) Board Chairman in that Abacha Junta which scuttled the chances of a Yoruba Presidency in 1993.

During Abiola’s arrest, illegal incarceration by the Abacha junta, Tinubu’s today’s man Friday, Buhari, NEVER EVER, uttered a word condemning Abacha.

This is the man that Tinubu, Osinbajo, Fashola, et al, tell the Yoruba nation would handover power to them in 2023?
