Wrestling Pro-League Final: Adekuoroye Finally Defeated

Wrestling Champion, Odunayo Adekuoroye, had her first pro-fight lost to Sweden’s Sofia Mattsson at the finals of the Pro Wrestling League Season Two which ended Thursday night.
In a replay of their bout at last year’s Rio Olympics, Sofia took a 1-0 lead in the first round with the Punjab grappler managing to draw level at 1-1 before taking the lead but lucky Sofia equalised at 3-3.
The final seconds saw the biggest challenge with Odunayo appeal after claiming a push out by Sofia but was rejected by the judges following television replays.
This led to Sofia getting a penalty point which was enough to hand her victory.
In the group stage on Tuesday, Adekuoroye, the 2015 World Bronze medalist saw off Mattsson 6-1 after a keenly contested match. Ironically, the three times African champion fell to Mattsson at the 2015 world championships and again at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Punjab Royals produced a dramatic comeback to edge out Haryana Hammers 5-4 in the final of the second edition of the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium.
