Workplace Adultery: The Danger of Being Around Your ‘Spec’

–Sola Sorinolu

This post is not meant to justify adultery in the workplace. It’s just my humble attempt at trying to make sense of it.

When I was single, like many singles the world over, I had a clear picture of the kind of woman I wanted to be waking up to see. And I got what I desired!

But did you know that my wife is not the only woman who possesses the “reasons” I married her?

If those attributes I saw in her were strong enough for me to chase, propose and marry her, what happens if I meet some other woman with those same attributes?

This is my point: I have a “spec” for the kind of woman that makes me go weak at the knees. My wife is evidence of that.

But there are possibly a thousand other women with my “spec” qualities! If I meet them as colleagues, with whom I work closely together, naturally, I get attracted right? And if God doesn’t help me, I guess you know what may likely result.

This is one reason married men and women at the workplace can’t afford to throw caution to the wind. Especially if their “spec” is someone they work closely with. It does not matter that you are a Christian, please don’t allow the enemy to trip you up.

“Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong”. 1 Cor. 16:13
