Wenger Finally Says The Truth About Ozil’s Contract Renewal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has finally opened up on what transpired between the club and Mesut Ozil during talks of a contract renewal before the beginning of the new season.

It would be recalled that there were media speculations that Ozil refused extending his deal with the Emirates side as both parties failed to reach a compromise.

Reports have it that the German playmaker might leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season if the Gunners fail to agree on a new deal with him.

Arsene Wenger has now denied that contract talks with Ozil have collapsed, insisting on a possibility to have the playmaker extend his stay at the club.

He however admitted that discussions have “slowed down” in the past couple of weeks but insists that dialogue is still open and the club wants the 28-year-old playmaker to remain.

On Wednesday Wenger said: “Yes, of course (I am hopeful).

“The contract talks have slowed down a little bit since August 31, because we need a little breather and to focus on the competition. But we will slowly get back into that.”

Also, the Gunners are yet to convince star player, Alexis Sanchez to sign a new deal for the club as his contract expires at the end of the season.
