US Airstrikes In Libya Leaves 41 People Dead

Airstrikes by US war planes on the Libyan town of Sabaratha have left about 41 people dead. The strikes targeted a Tunisian militant Noureddine Chouchane, who may have been killed during the operation, and are said to have ‘obliterated an ISIS training camp”. The Pentagon confirmed the strikes in a statement.

The airstrikes were part of coordinated efforts by the US to halt the expansion of ISIS in the region as such expansion would provide a solid base for the launch of attacks by the Islamist state on the West, and the region.

America is currently limiting its military operations in Libya to “narrow counterterrorism strikes”.
