Tinubu, South-West APC Governors And Ministers Unite Ahead Of 2019

By Ikenga Chronicles January 13, 2017

As the 2019 political permutations continue, many of the All Progressives Congress(APC)Governors and Ministers especially from the South West who have been allegedly working at cross purposes with the party’s National Chairman Bola Tinubu on Thursday evening mended fences.

This came as elders and stakeholders of the party in the South West zone converged in Ibadan, exchanging pleasantries and banters with Tinubu. This is the first of its kind since the Ondo Gubernatorial poll.

Recall that Tinubu had fallen out with most of the politicians from the South West especially in connection with the  last Ondo Poll.

In attendance at the five-hour long closed-door meeting held inside the Executive Council Chambers of Oyo State Governor’s Office at Agodi, Ibadan were Governor Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos); Governor Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo); Senator Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun); Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (Osun); Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, House Majority Leader.

The Ministers were Babatunde Raji fashola (Minister of Works, Housing and Power);  Kayode Fayemi (Minister of Solid Minerals);  Kemi Adeosun (Minister of Finance); Lai Mohammed (Minister of Information); Adebayo Shittu (Minister of Communications) and Prof. Isaac Adewole (Minister of Health).

Other party leaders at the meeting included Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Engr. Segun Oni, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Senator Sola Adeyeye, among others.

Reading out the communique to newsmen at the end of the meeting, Chief Osoba noted with delight that all those invited were present except the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, who is unavoidably out of the country on official mission.

According to Osoba, the discussions which centred on all socio-political issues affecting South West APC were amicably resolved “and there is now unity of purpose, the leadership is one, and we are all together on all issues”.

Furthermore, “the meeting resolved all issues concerning the governance of the country and what should be the role and the influence that should be exercised by the group for the interest and progress of the nation,” Osoba told newsmen.

Political analysts has said that the meeting is indirectly sending a strong signal to Buhari that the South West is not on the same page with him, especially with the way the Presidency sidelined Tinubu.
