That $5M Bribery Allegation Against Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan: Is The Reclusive Obafemi Hamzat Now Infested With APC Lying Spirit From The Pit Of Hell?

Ikenna Asomba

So, over the Weekend, our own Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the running mate to the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, a man I hold in high esteem for his quiet but profound strides in roads infrastructures, as a former Lagos State Commissioner for Works, has decided to join his partymen for their penchants in spewing LIES FROM THE PIT OF HELL?

For 2019 Political capital before some followers, Hamzat, who spoke at the launch of Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat Advocates at Fidimaye Hall, Oko-Oba, Abule-Egba, Lagos, over the weekend, says former President Goodluck Jonathan, in 2015, BRIBED him with a whopping $5million (N1.8billion) to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) and work for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015?

This is a LIE FROM THE PIT OF HELL.

FIRST LIE BUSTED:

Far before the 2015 Governorship election in Lagos, I followed copiously, the Politics of Lagos at that time.

As at May 2014, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oba Rilwan Akiolu and other APC Chieftains, even together with so many South West Editors in Lagos, had already known and endorsed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as the APC Guber Standard-bearer. Hamzat was nowhere near that political permutation or consideration at the time.

Obafemi Hamzat, an ORDINARY Commissioner for Works (apologies to Senate President Bukola Saraki) was never in the political equation in the minds of the Jagaban Borgu himself, among other APC leaders in Lagos.

Obafemi Hamzat was never an option across the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs of Lagos in 2015.

So, pray tell, how former President Goodluck Jonathan would consider an ORDINARY COMMISSIONER FOR WORKS to be bribed with a whopping $5million (N1.8billion)?

Bribing him to do what? The man Hamzat had no known POLITICAL STRUCTURE in Lagos that I worked in as a Journalist, as at 2015?

He was actually riding on the back of former Governor Babatunde Fashola. But, at the last minute when Tinubu, et al, insisted it was Ambode or nobody, Fashola, shifted gear, dropped Hamzat, and went for one Lawyer, OLASUPO SHASHORE (SAN). This political history is still very fresh in our minds?

Our problem in Nigeria is NATIONAL AMNESIA. We forget things so easily.

That is why a POLITICAL LIGHTWEIGHT like Obafemi Hamzat would spew LIES FROM THE PIT OF HELL before some Lagosians and NOBODY CHALLENGED him there and then to provide Emperical Evidences for his very heavy claims?

The man Hamzat just dropped GEJ’s name to further boost his political capital. But, because this is based on LIES, it is DEAD ON ARRIVAL (DOD).

Jonathan has just taken Hamzat to the cleaners, saying, the man Obafemi Hamzat was UNKNOWN to him, in 2015 and even till date. So, how could he have offered him a BRIBE of a whopping $5million (N1.8billion)?

Jonathan in a press statement on Sunday, described Hamzat as a Pathetic Liar and Wannabe politician.

SECOND LIE BUSTED

How can Hamzat claim that the PDP only built one road in 16years, and people were clapping for him KPATAKPATAKPATAKPATA?

Busting that lie, I know for sure that the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway which was hitherto a DEAD TRAP coming from the military junta in 1999 was fixed by the PDP government. That road is still solid till date. Last time I plied that road, there were only some failed portions in Imo State enroute Owerri.

What of the Ore-Benin-Ofosu Expressway? Who salvaged the harrowing experiences faced by travellers to the South East, on that road? Was it not the Jonathan government?

What of the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway (Berger Cement to Cele-Ijesha Axis- LOT 2), who rehabilitated it to a high standard that Trailers, Tankers are now parking along that routes today with reckless abandon? Was it not the Jonathan administration?

What of the ongoing Lagos-Ibadan Expressway? By 2015, a major session of that route was already in good, motorable condition. Yours Truly was a renowned road traveller. So, I know these for a fact.

What of a major session of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway? That road was hitherto, a no-go-area, a death trap before GEJ came for it. By 2015, it was still ongoing, better, motorable unlike before.

What of the East-West Road, even shown to the world recently by Asari Dokubo. Who fixed one session of that road motorable till date? Was it not the Jonathan administration?

So, the likes of Hamzat can not look us in the face to spew unverifiable LIES FROM THE PIT OF HELL.

Fact remains that before Jonathan came on board, motorable roads in Nigeria stood at about 5000 kilometres. But GEJ increased them to about 25,000 kilometres.

On December 9, 2015, Nigeria’s Minister for Power, Works and Housing, while unveiling his plans praised the achievements of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Fashola, during his first press conference tagged, “Setting the Agenda for Delivering Change” said that President Goodluck Jonathan constructed more roads than any president ever in Nigeria.

He also acknowledged that the Transformation in the power sector at that time was above 50% and that he (Fashola) would try to build on it.

Is that not why the Buhari administration is now seen commissioning projects kicked-off and almost near completion by the PDP administration of Jonathan by May 29, 2015?

Asked how many road infrastructures or rail infrastructures his party’s National Leadership has flagged-off and completed since May 2015, what will be thrown to your face is that GOVERNMENT IS CONTINUUM.

But when it suits them, to lie to their GULLIBLE followers, they will say the PDP ACHIEVED NOTHING for 16 years.

Yet, majority, about 85 per cent of these fellows in the APC today, were in the PDP spanning 4-16years.

WHO DID THIS TO NIGERIA?

ARE WE CURSED OR ARE WE THE CAUSE?
