Stakeholders Abandon APC Secretariat

By Ikenga Chronicles November 1, 2016

From infighting to structural abandonment, the APC doesn’t seem to be having it all rosy. As at press time, the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja has been thrown into darkness following the party’s failure to offset the N1.7 million debt owed Abuja Electricity Distribution Company. The electricity company decided to wield the big stick, cutting off electricity supply to the secretariat and worsening its already decrepit state.

The party has been starved of cash due to the current economic crisis but may have generated over N100 million this year from the sales of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for Edo and Ondo States governorship primaries.

An electricity receipt pasted on the gate of the APC secretariat showed that the party had only recently paid N500, 000 of the debt. Party officials said President Buhari has consistently refused to fund the party, just as state governors had refused to save the party from the embarrassing situation.

The secretariat now lies nearly abandoned as staff and others meant to keep it functioning have all gone to seek other means of livelihood.
