Siege On National Assembly Shows Nigeria Is Still Suffering From Military Hangover–Onuigbo

The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rep. Sam Onuigbo has condemned the invasion of the National Assembly by armed Department of State Services (DSS) operatives on Tuesday this week, describing it as a threat and coup d’etat to the nation’s hard earned democracy.

Chief Onuigbo who stated this in an interview in Umuahia, said the invasion shows that Nigeria is still suffering from military hangover, stressing the need to wean the nation of excessive executive military recklessness as well as uphold the rule of law at all times.

The federal lawmaker who is the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Climate Change and Vice President Global Legislators for Balanced Environment urged all in the country to use their position to project the image of the Nigeria in good light rather than engage in such impunity.

He charged the media to ensure proper enlightenment of the citizenry on the roles of the National Assembly in deepening democracy.
