Siasia in Qatar for top coaching job

Former Super Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia has reportedly left the country to the oil-rich Qatar to seal a coaching job.

“Siasia flew out to Qatar Thursday afternoon. He is there to discuss a coaching post,” a top source claimed

Over time, Siasia has been variously linked with overseas coaching jobs. The former Super Eagles coach led Nigeria to win bronze at the Rio Olympics in August.

If successful, the former Super Eagls player’s name will be written among the few Nigerians that coached abroad after Daniel Amokachi who is currently with the Finnish 2nd division side JS Hercules.

His contract as Nigeria Olympic team coach ended with that tournament. It was further learnt that he had already made plans to take some members of his backroom staff from the Olympics should he finally secure the job.

He was caretaker Eagles coach for an AFCON qualifier double header against Egypt in March.

Besides coaching the Nigeria’s U-20s, Siasia has also handled Heartland FC and now defunct JUTH FC of Jos.
