Sahara Reporters Publisher, Omoyele Sowore Will Be Jailed–Dino Melaye

As the “war” between Kogi State senator, Dino Melaye and online news portal Sahara Reporters continues, Senator Melaye has affirmed that the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Mr. Omoyele Sowore will go to jail in contravention of the 2015 Cybercrimes Act.

Senator Dino Melaye stated this in a message to Ikenga Chronicles. According to him, as per the Cybercrimes Act, “Sowore will go to jail”.

Sahara Reporters, who recently re-started their campaign of calumny against Senator Melaye had stated that the Senator did not graduate from the Ahmadu Bello University. While Senator Melaye has refuted this, and even gone as far as providing concrete evidences of even his Masters Degree thesis,he took a step further on Friday by filing a N5billion lawsuit against Sahara Reporters.

Furthermore, the distinguished Senator has written to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), requesting that Sahara Reporters and its publisher be brought to justice under the Cybercrimes law. In the letter made available to Ikenga Chronicles, Senator Melaye wrote;

“This act is contrary to Section 24(1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention ETC) Act, 2015.”

“Sir, this act is highly vexatious, an insult and an attempt to impair, harm, damage and assassinate my character”

“I, humbly implore you Sir, to use your good office to order the immediate investigation of this act and ensure the said individuals and organisations are made to answer to the law.”
