Rufai Laments Goalkeeping P‎roblems In The Super Eagles

Nigeria’s legendary goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has lamented the unresolved goalkeeping problem in the Super Eagles despite the form of the team. Rufai, who kept the goal for Nigeria in two World Cup finals, noted that, the NFF is yet to ensure that the Eagles have more than one reliable goalkeeper to help the team secure a World Cup ticket to play at Russia 2018.
“The Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr, must begin to scout for very good reserves for the current Eagles’ number one choice keeper, Carl Ikeme, before the pressure sets in again as the August date for the resumption of the qualifying matches is around the corner.”
“The NFF Technical Committee should not wait until August before they raise the issue of quality reserves in the Super Eagles goalkeeping area.”
“The error in the goalkeeping area was conspicuous when Carl Ikeme had to stay away after sustaining injury. That was when it became obvious that those the Eagles had relied on to hold fort as reserves are indeed not good enough for the present Eagles’ team.”
The former Stationery Stores goaltender, therefore urged the NFF to do everything within its powers to get two quality reserves for the Eagles’ goalkeeping area in the next two months so as not to put Nigeria’s Russia 2018 World Cup ticket on the line.
Meanwhile, Eagles goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme saw a red card in Wolves  weekend game
