Rivers Re-Run: We Will Match APC Gun For Gun, Voters With More Voters, Thug For Thug–PDP Chieftain

By Ikenga Chronicles December 9, 2016

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, and an acclaimed “Wike’s Boy” has declared that the party is ready for tomorrow’s legislative re-run elections in the state. The party stalwart, who served as one of Governor Nyesom Wike’s Supervisory Councillors during the governor’s stint as the Chairman of Obio-Akpor LGA exclusively told the Editor-in-Chief of Ikenga Chronicles that the PDP is ready for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, and will go toe to toe with them, however they want it;

“We will match them gun for gun; thug with thug; voters with more voters, even juju with juju! How many are they in this state?”

He went on to affirm that most Rivers people are willing to lay down their lives for the governor because he is the people’s governor, and “carries everybody along”;

“Wike is always there for the person, that is how he is different from other leaders. If he has N100, he will take only N10 and share the remaining to all the people close to him. I have been his boy since when he was the Obio-Akpor Local Government Chairman. I am sure you remember those days! You knew me then and how we helped so many young boys and girls then.” he told our Editor.

“It is this special characteristic [of helping people] of Governor Wike’s that endears him to his people. That is why no matter how hard Amaechi and his people try, they can never shake the people’s belief in him”

With there being several allegations of withdrawal of the Governor’s security personnel ahead of the elections, the party leader was asked if he did not think this could impact on the outcome of the elections;

“Security? There are boys ready to secure our dear governor. Boys who can protect him better than whatever security the Nigerian government has to offer. I am talking about people who can even lay down their lives for him. We have nothing to fear, and we are ready for Saturday.”

Recall that the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi had declared the re-run elections in the state, “the election of our lives” and urged APC members to fight back and shoot back too if provoked.

Many analysts have begun to see the re-run as a war with many non-indigenes of the state, travelling out of the state ahead of the elections.
