Rep. Onuigbo Provides Massive Empowerment Packages For Farmers From His Constituency

By Ikenga Chronicles April 24, 2017
Farmers from the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South federal constituency had reasons to smile today, April 24th,2017 as the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Rep. Sam Ifeanyi Onuigbo distributed large quantities of farming necessities to them. The project, which forms part of the honourable member’s efforts at boosting the economy of the area through Agriculture, saw him distribute bags of fertilizers, headgears, coveralls, Nasa sprayers, pesticides, to over fifty cooperatives and some individual farmers who could not form a cooperative.

The process of selecting beneficiaries, which began over a month again stressed the need for interested beneficiaries to form cooperatives in order to qualify. The demand that cooperatives be formed, the honourable member stressed, hinges mostly on the strategic plan of having functional structures through which progress can be monitored, challenges identified, and more empowerment packages attracted and delivered.

He called on beneficiaries to utilise the provisions he made judiciously, in order to ensure that more empowerment efforts come their way.

Reacting to the efforts of Rep. Onuigbo, a neutral observer, Christopher Ikenna, stated that his thorough investigation shows that Rep. Onuigbo was the only person that has shared or given fertilizers to farmers without charging or accepting a dime from beneficiaries. Mr. Ikenna who expressed his surprise that the expression of interest forms were given freely to beneficiaries called on God to continue to bless the honourable member for placing the poor in his heart.
