Rep. Onuigbo Hosts Ikwuano Youth Leaders Forum

Rep. Sam Onuigbo, member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal constituency, today hosted the leadership of the Ikwuano Youth Leaders Forum (IYLF) at his Umuahia residence.It was a closed door meeting. At the end of the meeting, Ikenga Chronicles was able to speak to two of the leaders of the forum.

Speaking to our correspondent, the president of the IYLF, Mr. Santiago Agomoh said;

“We came to see Honourable Sam Onuigbo.You can see for yourself what is going on here. He is a leader who likes to know what is going on with his people and how he can be of help. Maybe you are aware of it, last week, he flagged off the rehabilitation of the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene road. We came to thank him.”

“Onuigbo is a leader who believes in positioning the youths (whom he calls “his youths”) to be able to lead. He is always interested in education and tells us everytime we meet that the only way to be ready is to be educated so that if it comes to skills, we will have it, either for politics or for anything else we want to do in life”.

According to the president, “Onuigbo has done several skills acquisition programmes for the youths and only recently did one on fish farming in Oloko.”

Asked what the youths want their representative to do next, he said;

“He has his plans. There are three groups; mothers, youths, and elders, and he is always taking care of each of the groups. He meets with our mothers and finds out what their problems are, and he meets with our fathers too.For us as youths, he is always saying we should be ready, and to be ready for him, is to be educated.So he provides scholarship schemes for young people in his constituency, and listens to our needs.”

While speaking to us, a key member of the Ikwuano Youth Leaders Forum, and a Doctorate degree student at the Michael Okpara University, Mr. Ugbogu Chikwendu, said Rep. Onuigbo has always been accessible to them. He pointed out that the Honourable member supports post-graduate students at the Michael Okpara University.

“Onuigbo is a Godsent. He is different. He likes to call the youth together to find out what we need and find a way fof us to be prepared for the future. That is why whatever he is doing, we always support him”

“He is our champion and whenever he calls us we must be there for him.”

Rep. Onuigbo, who made himself available for a quick photo with the youths could not make any comments as he had to go back to attend to a cross section of Elders.
