Protesters Besiege Taraba Office of UBE, Demand Sack of Executive Chairman

Aggrieved members of the National Union of Local Government Employees NULGE, Taraba state chapter, besieged the offices of the Taraba state Primary Education Board Monday over nonpayment of their benefits and non-remittance of deducted union dues to the union.

Addressing the Press, the state chairman of the Union Comrade Mohammad Isa said that the union had explored all other diplomatic avenue to resolve the issue to know avail and so have resorted to this peaceful protest to herald a four day warning strike.

The protesting staff also demanded the immediate removal of the present executive chairman of the board Mr Yakubu Agbaizo for “his incompetence and for misrepresenting his Excellency in the Board”.

“Since the inception of Mr Yakubu Agbaizo administration, the activities of the board ranging from our normal working pace, co condition of service, infrastructural projects,and other activities have been crippled owing to his maladministration”, he said.

Isa also accused Mr Agbaizo of deliberately suspending the biometric exercise so that he could conveniently continue to manipulate information to suit his purpose and called on the UBA to “as a matter of urgency, resume the exercise and capture all the members in the in the interest of industrial harmony and general peace”.

In a swift reaction, the Executive Chairman of the Board Mr Yakubu Agbaizo said that the Union was already having talks with the union members to resolve the issues raised were resolved.

Agbaizo said that the calls for his removal was not only ridiculous but also uncalled for.

He said that those calling for his removal are those who are probably benefitting from the rot in the system and does not want it to be cleared.

He further called on all the teachers to remain calm and cooperate with the board to ensure that all the challenges they are facing are resolved once and for all.
