Presidency Shames Dalung

The Presidency on Monday made public its stand on the crisis bothering the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

While the Sports Minister had insisted on Chris Giwa as the authentic NFF President, citing court ruling for his backing, the world football governing body, FIFA threatened to ban Nigeria if the FG fails to recognize Amaju Pinnick as the authentic President.

The ban which was to be announced today, going by the ultimatum given, has been averted with the FG saying that it recognises the Amaju Pinnick-led executives of the NFF as the authentic executives of the federation.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, disclosed this in a message he posted on his Twitter handle, @akandeoj.

He said the government would continue to work with stakeholders to resolve the federation’s dispute in due time.

He added that the government is upholding NFF’s treaty obligations to FIFA.
