The order given by the past Abia State government that all major car parks in the state capital be moved to Ohia Motor Park, along Aba-PortHarcourt Expressway is being flouted by most drivers now. This has led to increased hardship for Umuahians who suddenly find themselves facing increasing traffic situations. Our correspondent in Umuahia– Ikechukwu Omaka– reports that the reason for this is seriously connected to the fact that drivers of the state-owned transport line “Abia Line” have not been adhering to the State government’s directive that Ohia motor park be used as the sole motor park in the state. With the state government flouting its own orders, the people see no reason why they should obey the orders of the state.

Women’s participation in peace processes is not optional it is a requirement in other for a peaceful community and better development. Poverty, vulnerability and virulent conflicts have been the bane of communities in Nigeria for several decades. Yet, while it has been proven that women are more peaceful than men, these champions of peaceful co-existence are barely given the opportunity to be part of conflict resolution and peace building. For whatever reasons or mainly because of their biological differences, women are better peacemakers than men. One can thus say that to some degree, “Biology is Destiny”.

One was so anxious that he typed ‘CEO’ as “Chief Execution Officer.”
I do not think that there is any other Nigerian youth who constantly splits opinions as much as Japheth Omojuwa does. His frontal opposition to the former president of Nigeria Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan drew for him a large number of enemies from various sections of the country. But he remained steadfast in his campaigns; his opinions remained scathing and blunt and in the end, what he and many others fought for materialized.
Leyii Kwanee is not your ordinary politician. He has none of the flamboyance and excessive ostentatiousness of most Nigerian politicians that you may have come across. This one was cut from a completely different cloth. The first impression one gets of him when you meet him in one of the taxis he moves around with in the city of Port Harcourt is that you have met an urbane and strict secondary school teacher. Then he will try to engage you in discussions to measure your level of awareness of certain issues, and what you feel should be done better. If you are able to impress him, then one day, you may get a call from him or one of his underground assistants, and you just might find yourself headed to one of the top schools abroad to get a degree you have been dreaming of, but have failed to get because of financial limitations. Or, you might just post something intelligent on Facebook, and if he is impressed, you get a call and one of your dreams becomes realized. But always, it has to be a dream that will positively affect the society either now, or in the future. Then one day, you will just find out that you have been talking to the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly!
