Outrage As Saraki Declares Himself A Saint

By Ikenga Chronicles November 23, 2016

A cross section of Nigerians on Wednesday, November 23 took a swipe on Senate President Bukola Saraki for daring to declare himself a saint who has never stolen government money while in public office.

The outage came against the backdrop of Saraki’s declaration in BBC Hausa service that he acquired 95 per cent of his wealth before he entered politics.

Saraki acknowledged that there was corruption in the country, but said his wealth was a result of coming from a blessed family and hardwork adding that he is confident that he would be cleared of the charges against him and he would continue to serve in public office.

“Based on legal advice the company was set up because they were acquiring an asset and it was advised at that time and that’s how it was set up to the best of our knowledge. It was not a company that was set up by ourselves; it was set up by a legal firm and under a legal firm as far as to the best of our knowledge no law was being broken,” Saraki had said.

Reacting, one Emeka said: ‘’ You are such a dirty liar! What and what did you invent to have made the monies you claimed? You and your father stole people’s monies from the bank your family liquidated, and you claimed you made your money, don’t worry, nemesis must surely catch up with you and other thieves in that ‘Horror of a house’ called Senate.”

Another commentator Victor said: ”Saraki, you are a liar. You made 95% of your wealth through looting, we know that, the world knows that.”

‘’The senior Saraki has been reaping off Nigeria since the 1960s. You were spoon-fed, raised and grew-up with corruption and has never worked a single day in your life and earned a decent pay for it. So are all your

‘’The people of Kwara State are slaves to the Saraki dynasty from cradle to grave. When your old thieving father passed away, the people of Kwara breathed a sigh of relief, hoping to breathe a bit easier and take their own destiny in their hands.”

‘’Rather, you piled more burden on them and tightened their yoke, awarded yourself an amount equal to half of the state’s annual revenue to yourself as ex-governor’s pension, while you are still collecting salaries and perks as senate president.’’

Another source, name withheld lamented; “‘ Saraki you can tell that to the gods. Spare us that trash and be ready to tell the court that when your case resumes next year in the court.”
