Onuigbo Lauds FG For Taking Steps To Reconstruct Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Federal Road

The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Chief Sam Onuigbo has commended the Federal Government for taking steps towards the total reconstruction of the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene federal road.

Chief Onuigbo who made the commendation in reaction to the advertisement for the reconstruction of the road, in the national dailies, by the federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, noted that with the conditions required of the contractors to bid for the contract, there is hope that the job will be given to a major construction firm.

The federal lawmaker while expressing joy that his efforts in ensuring that the sufferings of his constituents and other road users of the road will soon come to an end, lauded the Senator representing Abia Central, Senator T.A. Orji for his interest, support and collaborative efforts which have translated to the success being recorded.

He explained that money has also been set aside in the 2018 budget for the construction of the bridge of the Ehie bridge, and the design of the Okwe-Obuohia-Nkari federal road which he initiated as an alternative route to the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene federal road. The alternative road, will go through Okwe and Obuohia Ibere, in Ikwuano LGA, to Nkari in Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state.

Chief Sam Onuigbo further noted with delight that many federal projects which he attracted to the federal constituency including the gigantic Skills Acquisition Centre at Apumiri Ubakala, the Oloko and Obuohia Ibere health centres, the classroom blocks in Ekebedi in Ikwuano and Old Umuahia Primary School II have all reached advanced stages while the Elemaga-Itunta Ibere bridge, classroom blocks in Afugiri Girls Secondary School and Umutowe Community School Olokoro, as well as erosion control projects in Okwe Oboro and Ezeleke Umuopara Amachara have all been completed among others.

Onuigbo reaffirmed his determination to continue to work in collaboration with other well meaning leaders and stakeholders of the state and Ikwuano/Umuahia in particular to give the people quality representation and enhance development in the area.
