Ondo PDP In Disarray As Mimiko’s Aides Resign, Join APC

By Ikenga Chronicles November 3, 2016

The Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko was in total confusion on Wednesday following the sudden defection of two of his strongest allies to the rival All Progressives Congress (APC).

The duo were Special Assistants to Governor Olusegun Mimiko on Political and Mobilisation matters. They resigned from office to join the APC in the state.

There have been disputes between Ahmed Markafi and Ali Modu Sheriff factions in the state over who is the bona fide flagbearer of the PDP in the state. While Markafi’s group produced Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as candidate, Sheriff presented Mr Jimoh Ibrahim as his own candidate.

Many of the PDP members, who were not comfortable with the emergence of Ibrahim as the Independent National Electoral Commission’s(INEC) recognised candidate have been fraternizing with opposition political parties ahead of the November 26 governorship election in the state.

But the State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Special Duties, Hon. Femi Adekanmbi had already appealed to members of the Ahmed Markafi faction of the party not to defect to any political party ahead of the November  26, governorship election.
