Ondo PDP In Confusion As INEC Lists Jimoh Ibrahim As PDP Gov. Candidate

Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has been thrown into confusion as the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has listed Jimoh Ibrahim Folorunso the candidate from the Ali Modu Sheerrif faction of the PDP as the legal PDP governorship candidate for the Ondo State Gubernatorial elections. This is as revealed in the final list of contestants made available on INEC’s website late yesterday.

According to the document,INEC stated that the choice of Ibrahim Jimoh ahead of Governor Mimiko’s favoured Eyitayo Jegede was down to “court order”.

There are two factions of the PDP– The Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction, and the Ali Modu Sherrif faction. Governor Mimiko and Eyitayo Jegede belong to the Makarfi faction, which elected Jegede as the party’s governorship candidate, while Jimoh Ibrahim belongs to the Ali Modu Sherrif camp.

This action by INEC has further poured more fuel in an already consuming conflagration besieging the former ruling party.

In the mean time, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu remains the candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), while Olusola Alex Oke who defected from the APC to the Alliance for democracy(AD) is now the AD’s governorship candidate.

The election is slated for the 26th of November, 2016 and there are 28 contestants.
