Olokoro Women Protest At Michael Okpara University of Agriculture

Women from Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA of Abia State today staged a protest at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture,Umudike.The protesting women who bore placards some of which read “Edeoga has made land owners poor”; “Nepotism must stop in MOUA”; “Onyinye Ralph Nwachukwu The PRO must go” were protesting against what they perceive as the Vice Chancellor’s decimation of the admission and employment quota due to Olokoro people as part of the communities that the university is located at. They also bemoaned what they see as the Vice Chancellor’s penchant for favouring particular people.

As at the time of filing this report, neither the Vice Chancellor nor his representatives had met with the protesting women.

Meanwhile, Professor Hillary Odo Edeoga’s tenure as the Vice Chancellor expires on the 29th of February.
