Obama And Kids

Last night, Twitter shut down with the hashtag #ObamaAndKids. As I went through most of the pictures being thrown around, I could not help but get misty-eyed. The pictures independently tell the story of a man’s love for children, but put together, a more powerful story begins to emerge; the story of love that is reciprocal. For as much as Barack Obama loves the kids, they also love him equally. As Aisha Yesefu correctly stated, I would rather go with the instincts of kids! There is something about children that draws them to purity and selflessness.

The Obama and Kids project, initiated by Michael Skolnik has helped create different collages of a president who is first of all human. A president who places fatherhood and the need to inspire and encourage young ones above the arrogance that comes with occupying the highest office in the world. For Barack Obama, it is all about building a future for millions of kids the world over. The pictures show him with different kids, from different regions and races. They tell the story of a man who is the father of the world, and who loves all his kids irrespective of their race, age, or sex.

It is interesting that Barack Obama’s presidency happened at a time when the use of the internet is at an all-time high. This has brought the world closer. Yet this man despite our diversities was able to command an unprecedented worldwide love and affection. Not many presidents would have been able to pull that off. This shows that purity of soul is a magnet to love, which can engender worldwide peace.

The magnet that draws the kids to POTUS is his purity of soul. It is this purity of soul that we must all aspire to as we share our collages of #ObamaAndKids.
