Nigerian Government Must Respect Her Citizens–Dino Melaye

By Ikenga Chronicles November 20, 2016

Kogi State Senator, Dino Melaye has re-iterated that it is necessary for government to respect her citizens, as citizens are the owners of government, and not the other way round.

Senator Melaye stated this in a message he sent to Ikenga Chronicles.

Melaye who believes that the people own government, encouraged Nigerians to hold government more accountable;

“The people own government, government does not own the people”

Senator Melaye’s position reflects the need for those in power to strive to meet the needs of the governed as they were elected to serve the people–a breath of fresh air in complete contrast with how most Nigerian politicians perceive the people.

The controversial senator, famed for always speaking is mind went on to point out that the people are not slaves to government officials, but rather citizens deserving of respect;

“The people are citizens and not subjects. Government must respect her citizens” he stated.
