NFF Says No Money To Sponsor Super Eagles’ W/Cup Qualifier Against Zambia Next Month

By Ikenga Chronicles September 29, 2016

Nigeria’s hope of participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup my begin as an end, with the Nigeria Football Federation stating that it does not have money to sponsor the team to Ndola, Zambia for their game on October 9. It is reported that even though the Super Eagles have had their bonuses suspended for six months amidst harsh economic situations in the country, the NFF faces a greater problem this time around as it does not even have money to fly in the players, and charter a plane for them, to Zambia.
“As we speak, we don’t have any kobo in our purse. The charges for the Airline alone is $200,000 for a 140-seater plane, and it will be on ground with the team for two days.We need between $6,000 and $10,000 for flight ticket(s) to bring in the players ” a member of the NFF said

The body has subsequently reached out to Globacom for support, while also hoping that the Nigerian government will step in and help address the situation.

“The federal government still has to play its part, because this is the beginning of our campaign for the 2018 World Cup qualifying ticket. If we must get it right, every hand must be on deck,”the NFF member concluded.
