Leaders and Husbands Should Learn From Eze Ifenwanta–Gov. Ikpeazu

The Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu PhD, has urged leaders and husbands to emulate the sterling qualities of Eze Professor Ezeudo Sam Ifenwanta, in order to effectively run a peaceful home and society. The governor made the call through his deputy, His Excellency Ude Oko Chukwu, during the occasion of Eze Professor Ezeudo Sam Ifenwata and Ugoeze Ezinne Ifenwanta’s marriage golden jubilee and sixteen years of kingship anniversary.

Speaking at the lavish ceremony which held at the Ibere Comprehensive Secondary School, Ahia Orie, the governor through his deputy said;

“I read your citation and noticed you went from primary school to university all on your own. People should come to you and learn how to persevere”

He further extolled the immense leadership capabilities of Eze Ifenwanta which has made it possible for him to maintain peace in Ugwu Ibere for the sixteen years he has been on the throne and urged other leaders to borrow a leaf from the eze;

“For the years you have been on the throne, you have maintained peace in Ikwuano. Other traditional rulers should come to you and learn”

Explaining how he was able to sustain a peaceful marriage and autonomous community, Eze Ifenwanta said;

“Internal locus of control is key”

He went on to explain that for harmony to reign in the home, there must be mutual respect as “One person cannot be the pillar of the house”

The Ugwu 1 of Ugwu Ibere autonomous community called for continuous unity amongst the people stating that “No autonomous community is greater than the clan”.

In his reaction to the citation on Eze Ifenwanta, the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal constituency at the House of Representatives, and Chairman House Committee on Climate Change, Rep. Sam Onuigbo narrated how the Eze was instrumental to his professional growth. He praised the Eze for his dogged determination in life;

“Eze Ifenwanta is a man who achieves whatever he sets his mind to achieve.He is my role model.” Rep. Onuigbo stated.

The ceremony which held on the 27th of December, 2016, was graced by prominent sons and daughters of Abia among whom were; Senator T.A Orji (Senator representing Abia central senatorial district), Rep. Sam Onuigbo (member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal constituency at the House of Representatives, and Chairman House Committee on Climate Change), His Excellency Ude Oko Chukwu (Deputy Governor of Abia State), Col. Austin Akobundu (Former Minister of State for Defence), Chief Henry Ikoh (Commissioner for Industry and Technology, Abia State), Chief Onyema Ugochukwu (Former Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission), Mr. Nnaemeka Oruh (Editor-in-Chief, Ikenga Chronicles), Ndubuisi Ebu, traditional rulers,lecturers, PDP bigwigs including the TC Chairman, Ikwuano LGA Elder Awah, and in the incoming chairman of the LGA, and several distinguished sons of Ikwuano and Abia State.
