Kente Withdraws Major Case Against Gov. Ishaku from Supreme Court

The Taraba Gubernatorial Candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP, in the 2015 general elections Chief David Sabo Kente has ordered his lawyers to withdraw the suit he instituted against Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba challenging the primary election that brought him to office.

Speaking to newsmen on Friday, Kente disclosed that his decision to withdraw the case was in the overall interest of Taraba State.

Kente explained that the reason why he decided to challenge the PDP governorship primaries in the first place was because he was not fairly treated as a, then aspirant, under the platform of the party.

Aside from that, Kente stressed that after the “stage managed” primaries which took place in Abuja instead of Jalingo, there were rumours from several quarters that he was settled by Gen. T.Y. Danjuma to step down for Darius Ishaku.

According to Kente, he did not only decamp to the SDP to contest the governorship of Taraba State, but also proceeded to  challenge the primaries in court to prove to doubting Thomases that he was not settled by Gen. Danjuma.

“I want to tell you today that after pursuing my case to the Supreme Court I decided I should withdraw it in the interest of Taraba State” he said.

He lamented that he was pained by the way and manner some people have been feeding fat from the case at the expense of the Taraba tax payers.

He alleged that the case was being used as a conduit pipe to siphon government resources by some of defendants in the case.

This, he said, was not healthy for a state like Taraba that is yearning for development and was even finding difficult to pay workers salaries.

The politician argued that he ordered his lawyers to withdraw the case on his own volition, adding that he was not pressurized to take the decision.

It could be recalled that the Supreme Court recently adjourned the case for April 7th.
