JUST IN: Senate Makes U-Turn, Announces New Date For Magu’s Confirmation

The Senate has finally set a date for the screening and confirmation of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) Ibrahim Magu.

Earlier, the senate on Thursday during plenary has opted not to proceed with the confirmation of Magu as EFCC boss.

After the plenary the Senate via Twitter stated that the EFCC boss had been formally notified about the date.

“We will screen @officialEFCC chairman and other @officialEFCC Nominees on Thursday 15th December at 11am. Formal letter sent to EFCC” the Senate said.

President Muhammadu Buhari had in July written the Senate, seeking the confirmation of the EFCC boss.

The matter had not featured on the Senate’s agenda since then but Ekweremadu’s comment led to fresh speculation that the matter was back on the front burner.

Magu was appointed EFCC chairman in November 2015 after the removal of Ibrahim Lamorde.
