Ikwuano/Umuahia People In The U.S/Canada Endorse Rep. Onuigbo For Second Tenure

The Ikwuano National Development Association, USA & Canada has thrown its support behind the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South federal constituency, in his quest to return to the House of Representatives. The Association made this known in a press statement made available to Ikenga Chronicles, following its meeting on Saturday, November, 3, 2018, in Houston, Texas.

According to the association, it had become imperative to “duly put all Ikwuano/Umuahia people both at home and abroad on notice that, on Saturday, November 3rd 2018 at the residence of Sir Onyekachi Chionuma in Houston Texas, the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State in the USA & Canada rose from a meeting where they unanimously resolved to endorse the Candidature of Chief Sam Onuigbo to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia for another term in office (ie 2019 – 2023) at the House of Representatives Nigeria, under the PDP platform.”

While they pledged to work hard to convince Ikwuano/Umuahia people at home to vote massively for Rep. Onuigbo, the association pointed out that its decision to support Rep. Onuigbo by all means legally available, arose from total appreciation for the immense work the honourable member has already done; the massive plans he already laid that will soon be executed for the people; and their belief that as a high ranking member of the House of Representatives, Onuigbo would be able to attract more developmental projects to his constituency;

“The people of the Constituency here in the USA & Canada further pledged to support his re-election by mobilizing the electorate at home and by extending all available and necessary assistance to him to ensure his victory at the upcoming election back home in Nigeria.

“We reiterate that we are in support of Rep. Onuigbo, realizing that his resilience, hard work, zeal for the development of his Constituency, and the foundation laid during his first tenure, will enhance his determination to forge ahead to represent the Constituency more effectively.

Rep. Sam Onuigbo, who is seeking an unprecedented second term in office as the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South federal constituency, has attracted massive developmental projects to the constituency. Some of his projects include: the rehabilitation of the failed parts of the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene federal road; construction of classroom blocks at Ekebedi (ongoing), Old Umuahia, Afugiri, and Umutowe;massive erosion control works at Okwe Oboro, and Amachara; Skills Acquisition Centre at Apumiri Ubakala(ongoing); the rehabilitation of the Obuohia Obi-Ibere Health Center (ongoing), and the construction of a new one at Oloko (ongoing); amongst others.

He has also seen to it that the Federal Government commits to the total reconstruction of the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene federal road, with the call for Expression of Interest by contractors interested in carrying out the total reconstruction of the road, already advertised in national dailies.Onuigbo has furthermore, seen to it that the Federal Government included in the 2018 budget, the construction of a new federal road, which will start from Okwe Oboro, cut across Obuohia Obi-Ibere, and pass through Nkari, in Akwa Ibom state.
