Hope As Unemployed Youths Get LSETF, UNDP Vocational Training

Unemployed and underemployed youths in Lagos State are to receive vocational training courtesy of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

In a statement on Wednesday, LSETF said the training is in line with its employability support project, aimed at improving the pool of skilled and employable manpower in Lagos.

According to the fund managers, the initiative is expected to alleviate the acute shortage of employable labour in the construction, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment and garment-making sectors.

The statement said the vocational training was free, and would run for about four to eight weeks.

It said the LSETF team would be going on a tour of radio stations and communities to educate them about the importance of vocational skills to the survival of young and vulnerable youths.

The statement added that the team would inform employers about the benefits of recruiting their workforce from the project’s database of trained and certified workers during the tour.
