Guardiola Faces Spanish Government’s Wrath

Emerging report from Spain indicates that Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola is facing the wrath of the Spanish government for publicly supporting the Catalan independence movement.

He is, therefore, being investigated by the Spanish police for alleged ‘rebellion’ and reports suggest Guardiola is cited in the police report which will now be passed to the investigating Supreme Court judge Pablo Llaren.

Guardiola attended a pro-independence rally in Barcelona in the summer with Carles Puigdemont, president of the Catalan government, along with tens of thousands of demonstrators.

He told the mass crowd that he would be voting for independence on October 1 ‘even if the Spanish state doesn’t want it’.

A police report, which is quoted in Spanish newspaper El Nacional, states that a ‘manifesto was read by Josep Guardiola and intended to mobilize all supporters of independence’.

The referendum did take place on October 1 and pro-Independence politicians Oriol Junqueras and Joaquim Forn, and activists Jordi Sanchez and Jordi Cuixart were subsequently imprisoned.
