GOP Repeal And Replace Bill: A Choice Between Affordability And Quality In Healthcare-Vitus Ozoke

Republicans just unveiled their Obamacare repeal and replacement Bill. This is interesting. Here is the new Bill in four words: more access, less coverage. With the new Bill, millions of low income Americans who are currently covered under Obamacare will lose their coverage.

A key difference between the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and the new GOP Bill is that the new Bill has stripped the word “Affordable” off the existing law. It’s like opening up more upscale brand malls where the poor can only window shop.

Here is how Congressman Jason Chaffetz of Utah puts it: “Those poor Americans will have to make a choice between buying an iPhone and buying a medical insurance…”

Essentially, this is the classical survival of the fittest. For Republicans it is Quality Care, not Affordable Care. Republicans don’t want an America where everybody is alive, although some are managing; they want an America where the few who will be alive have high quality life.
