Explosion In Lahore Leaves At Least 65 People Dead

LAHORE: An explosion, which Pakistani Police are saying may be a consequence of a suicide bomb has rocked a public park in Lahore, Pakistan. The explosion, which occurred close to the main gate of the Gulshan-e-Iqbal park, has left about 65 people dead as at the time of filing this report.

Ahsanullah Ahsan, spokesman for Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has confirmed to Associated Press that the attack was carried out by a Pakistani faction of the Taliban, and was targeted at a predominantly Christian community.

The Lahore attack is happening less than a week after the horrific Brussels attack, thus throwing the world into a fresh state of mourning, amid rising fears of the audacity of terrorists.

Pakistan has declared three days of mourning, even as her emergency rooms are flooded with about 300 injured persons.

Facebook has since started a safety feature to enable people check-in, and confirm their safety after the blast.
