I Don’t Want To Look Stupid On The Pitch–Victor Moses

Chelsea star Victor Moses has explained why it seems like he selects games he plays for the Super Eagles.

Ikenga Chronicles gathered that Moses failed to honour the Super Eagles call-up on several occasions on claims that he is injured despite being seen on the pitch for his clubside games.

This has attracted criticisms from the Nigerian fans who are of the opinion that the Chelsea winger back selects games he wishes to play and ignores others under the pretence of injury.

However, the 26-year-old dismissed such insinuations, insisting that he doesn’t honour matches when he is not fully fit to play.

“Yes, everyone says that I select games. I have heard it myself,” he said.

“But it is what it is. I never run away from challenges. I love to play football, why would I run away from playing football? That is what we are meant to do.

“But people keep saying that I choose games for Nigeria… But I need to clear the air now, that is not true.

“If I have got an injury, I have got an injury. Whenever I want to play for Nigeria, I must be 100 per cent, I want to give everything. But if I have got an injury, I don’t want to force myself because I am going to look stupid on the pitch.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s coach Gernot Rohr on Monday praised Moses for his performance in the 2018 World Cup qualifying double-header against African champions Cameroon. The Eagles won the first leg in Uyo 4-0 and played a 1-1 draw against the Indomitable Lions in Yaounde in the reverse fixture.

Moses scored one of the goals in the 4-0 humiliation of Cameroon in Uyo on September 2.

However, he made his debut for Nigeria in 2012 and was part of the team that won the 2013 edition of the African Nations Cup and played in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
