By Ikenga Chronicles July 10, 2018

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Rep. Sam Onuigbo, has described the coming together of about forty political parties, to form an alliance to unseat President Muhammadu Buhari, as a valid statement of rejection of the failures of the current Federal Government.

Onuigbo made this known while speaking exclusively to Ikenga Chronicles on Tuesday morning.

Rep. Onuigbo who was present at the historic meeting and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) among others, said the fact that such divergent parties could form an alliance is testimony to the vibrant nature of Nigeria’s democracy, and proof that the people of Nigeria believe that the APC-led federal government has failed to deliver;

“It is quite clear. The fact that so many divergent groups came together is a testimony to the vibrancy of our democracy. More than that, it is a very resounding proof that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR has not delivered.

“So apparently, the people want to change the present situation where human life has become cheap.”

Asked if he believes the parties will adhere to the terms of the MoU, Rep. Onuigbo said;

“Of course! All parties will conform. Nobody was forced to be part of it, parties willingly volunteered. I think it is good for our democracy.”

As The Nation Celebrates

Onuigbo, whom it is believed will seek re-election under the PDP commended the party for being able to weather the storm of some years ago, and coming out stronger.

He urged Nigerians to ensure they register and obtain their PVCs (Permanent Voter’s Card) for 2019 and future elections.
