Coach Madu Promises Better Super Falcons Outing Against Ghana

Super Falcons assistant coach Maureen Madu has promised Nigerians that the team will have a better outing against Ghana in the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Women’s tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.

Admitting that the 2-0 win against Mali produced the least performance by the senior national team, coach Madu told Ikenga Chronicles that talks have been held with the players to ensure a better performance in Thursday’s semi-finals.

“We the coaches led by our Chief Coach Thomas Dennerby were not happy about the performance of our team in the final Group B match against Mali despite beating Mali 2-0 in today’s (Tuesday’s)match. We are only happy that we won the match to qualify for the semi-final.

“This wasn’t our best game. In fact this is the worst game we played since we came to this competition. The Chief Coach told the players point blank.

“We have already told the players that we cannot have it like this against Ghana in the semi-final. We have told them that they should go all out against Ghana.

“They should step up their game, follow instructions, fight for the team and fight for the nation.

“After the meeting Coach Dennerby told them to put up a strong performance against Ghana in the semi-final, and then the players promised us that they are going to do their best against Ghana. So we are looking forward to the Ghana match. We just have to forget the last match we played and focus on the one that is in front of us. That is the important thing for us, to go all out to give our best and make sure we beat Ghana on Thursday.”
