Chelsea Crash Out Of The UEFA Champions League

Chelsea’s hope of sneaking back into next year’s UEFA champions’ league came to an end last night. The reigning Premier league champions, whose poor start to the 2015/2016 season sees them miles off qualifying for next year’s champions’ league by finishing at least fourth in the domestic league, had hoped to repeat their 2012 feat by automatically qualifying as winners of the champions’ league. That dream was blasted to Mercury by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Parisian side had won the first leg 2-1 in Paris, and came into the second leg as favourites to advance. Chelsea, who needed only a 1-0 scoreline to qualify started the game extremely respectful of the visitors and were made to pay for it by Ibrahimovic who teed up Adrien Rabiot for the opener. Diego Costa equalised as the first half drew to an end, before Ibrahimovic volleyed in the winner during the second half.

Chelsea now require more than a miracle to qualify for next year’s champions’ league.
