Buhari’s Government Is Exaggerating Figures,Dasuki Couldn’t Have Stolen $2.2 Billion- GEJ

By Ikenga Chronicles October 25, 2016

Former President of Nigeria Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has expressed his belief that there was no way his former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki could have stolen $2.2 billion as alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).

Dr. Jonathan stated this while talking on Youth Entrepreneurship at the Oxford House,Oxford, United Kingdom, on Monday October 24.According to him, it was impossible for Dasuki to have stolen such huge amount seeing as they were able to procure several military equipment;

“They said the National Security Adviser stole $2.2billion. I don’t believe somebody can just steal $2.2 billion. We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army and so on and so forth and you are still saying 2.2 billion, so where did we get the money to buy all those things?”

Jonathan who accepted that there were issues of corruption under his government explained that while there was corruption under him as with other administrations,insisted that the amounts being waved around by the present administration are exaggerated.

“Yes, there were some issues; yes, there are still corruption issues; but some of it were blown, I’d say exaggerated, and they give a very bad impression about our nation. You cannot say the National Security Adviser stole $2.2billion. It is not just possible,”

Dr. Jonathan concluded by saying that he could not say more as most of the cases are still in court.
