Buhari Set To Storm Edo State In Grand Style As Oshiomhole Takes A Bow

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to storm Edo State next week on a two-day working visit. This was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Julius Ihonvbere and made available to journalists on Thursday in Benin. It said the President will use the historic visit to pay a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II and thereafter commission several key projects in the state.

Reacting to the visit, a source close to Edo government House wrote on her facebook page ‘’ How good can it get? Next week is packed. I mean fully packed and Edo State is the centre of huge attraction. Starting on Sunday, 6th November 2016, a colloquium will be held in honour of our political colossus, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, who undoubtedly has worked tirelessly for the people in the last 8 years.’’

She added: ‘’Then my President – PMB is coming to Edo State for a two-day official visit from Monday, 7th November to felicitate with Oba Ewuare II, and commission key projects – namely the new Central Hospital in Benin City; the Upper Siluko road, the Samuel Ogbemudia College (formerly New Era College, Benin City) amongst others. How good can it get?”

‘’Still in the same week, our incoming technocrat governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki will be sworn in to office to lead Edo people while we bid farewell to our colossus – a man that I hold in very high esteem for his remarkable achievements and lasting legacy of good governance. All these are happening in the same week! Incredible, isn’t it? The mighty hand of God is upon our dear state and we are moving onwards and upwards, to greater heights. It couldn’t have been any better and I am very excited.’’

She said that Buhari would also commission the Edo University, Iyamho and the Ugbegun-Ujiogba-Ebudin-Igueben-Ewohinmi road and also inspect the reclaimed Queen Ede Erosion site, in Benin.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has commenced the inspection of electoral materials used by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) in the September 28 governorship election in the state.

PDP is seeking to upturn the victory of APC candidate, Godwin Obaseki, at the governorship election.
