By Ikenga Chronicles January 16, 2017

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the terrorist attack that took place on Monday, January, 16 , at a mosque in University Of Maiduguri, killing a professor of Veterinary Medicine and four others.

A close source to the presidency told Ikenga Chronicles that “Buhari lost appetite this morning as he refused to eat his breakfast due to the carnage perpetrated by the rag-tag insurgents’’

In swift response, Buhari in a statement by the his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, described the perpetrators as despicable, cowards, criminals, that have no true understanding.

He said: “This appalling attack on a revered place of worship and Ivory Tower shows that the perpetrators have no true understanding of Islam. Their despicable acts of terrorism are cowardly, criminal, unjustifiable and punishable before God Almighty and the laws of the land”.

Buhari reassured the communities in Borno and others in the North Eastern part of the country that his administration will continue to ensure that terrorism never triumphs over peace-loving Nigerians.

He maintained that Nigerians need to remain more vigilant even as the security agencies continue to use all means at their disposal to combat the remnants of insurgents and their sponsors.

The president wished those injured in the attack a speedy and full recovery, and comfort for families of the dead.
