Buhari Medically Unfit For 2019, APC To Turn To Osinbajo

A top All Progressives Congress(APC) chieftain has hinted that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, is the right person to take over from President Muhammdu Buhari in 2019.

This came a few days after a shocking report revealed that Buhari’s return to Nigeria remains uncertain, as his team of doctors in the United Kingdom  was yet to certify him fit to continue to bear the burden of a president, because of the enormous task of the office.

The President’s associates are reportedly afraid that a prolonged tenure as Acting President for Osinbajo, could significantly change the power equation against them.

The chieftain who pleaded anonymity revealed that since Buhari may not be physically strong to run for the presidency, then it behoves on him (Buhari) to give his deputy more responsibilities in critical areas. The source who was a gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the APC in 2015, urged the president to carry his vice along.

“Osinbajo, whom I see to be a possible replacement of Muhammadu Buhari is very active and understands the president more than any member of the cabinet. We must be proud of this co-operation to reconstruct Nigeria,” he said.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had on January 20 started performing his role as the Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Buhari, before proceeding on medical vacation in the United Kingdom had informed the National Assembly that Osinbajo would perform the duties of the President in his absence.

Osinbajo, who was in Davos, Switzerland when the President left the country returned to Nigeria on the 19th of January.

After some engagements in Ibadan, Oyo State on Friday morning, Osinbajo returned to Abuja and perform some of his first functions as Acting President of Nigeria.
