Buhari Has Denied Kogi State Representation-Dino Melaye

By Ikenga Chronicles December 7, 2016

The Senator representing Kogi West Constituency has on Wednesday, December 7 raised alarm that the people of Kogi State have been denied representation in the Federal Executive Council (FEC) by President Muhamamdu Buhari.

This came against the backdrop of Buhari’s failure to nominate a replacement for ex-Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, James
Ocholi, who died on March 13, 2016.

Ocholi, wife and his eldest son died in a motor vehicle accident along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.

Since his death, Buhari has not appointed a new minister from the state.

Reacting to the delay, Melaye told senators during plenary that since Ocholi’s death, Kogi State has been denied representation in the federal
cabinet.

Also speaking in support of Melaye’s petition, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, described it as an important point.

He added that: “What affects one state affects the rest of us.”
