Breaking: PDP Rejects Appeal Court Ruling

By Ikenga Chronicles February 17, 2017

The Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which currently controls a larger chunk of PDP members has rejected the ruling handed out by the Appeal Court in Port Harcourt, today. The Appeal Court had declared that the factional leader Ali Modu Sheriff is the authentic leader of the party.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the judgement,the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye called the judgment a disgrace which was handed out without proper consideration of the facts;

“It is a disgrace”

“It is also a reflection of what is going on in the larger Nigerian politics. You can see the hand of the ruling party meddling into the affairs of the PDP.They don’t want the PDP to stand to be a balanced opposition to them. So that in 2019, despite their mis-governance…who is going to stand against them if there is no PDP?”

When asked what the status of the party is now, he thundered;

“The status quo is that the Caretaker Committee stands until the Supreme court says otherwise”

Prince Adeyeye pointed out that the presiding judge was the same one who nearly denied Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike of his mandate by ruling against him.But Wike was able to overcome because he had the option of the Supreme Court, and that is what they intend to do.

“99% of the party, they are with us. I see this as a very invidious attempt to destroy the PDP and it will not work”
