Breaking: INEC Declares Osun Governorship Election Inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC)has declared Saturday’s Governorship election in Osun state, inconclusive.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Joseph Afuwape, who announced the results on Sunday afternoon said that despite the fact that Ademola Adeleke, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 254,699, while Isiaka Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 254,345 votes, the results were inconclusive because the difference between the two leading candidates was just 353 votes which is less than the number of cancelled votes which was 3,549.

According to Afuwape;

“Unfortunately, as the Returning Officer, it is not possible to declare any party as winner.”

A new date for a rerun between the two leading candidates will be announced shortly.
