BREAKING! 36 Governors Hold Emergency Meeting In Aso Rock

By Ikenga Chronicles April 27, 2017

The Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, last night met at the Aso Rock
Presidential Villa in Abuja to discussed important issues as it affects
President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.

The closed-door meeting, held at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential
Villa, was presided over by the chairman of the forum, Abdulaziz Yari of
Zamfara State.

The sudden meeting came barely few hours when Buhari for the third
consecutive time did not show up in the weekly Federal Executive Council
meeting, FEC, usually held at the Presidential Villa.

The tension worsen when the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed told State
House correspondents, that Buhari would be working from home because he
needed time for more rest.

Sources has posited that the trouble governors had meet with Buhari to
persuade him to resign due to the persistent nature of his health or
travelled back to London for more medical treatment .

‘’The President is not well. His health condition is getting worse every
day. The Governors met behind closed doors to deliberate on the way
forward,’’ the source said.

Among the governors in attendance were those of Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Kwara,
Kogi, Borno, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Ondo, Bauchi,
Sokoto, Plateau, Niger, Edo, Kebbi.

The governors of Rivers, Ogun and Lagos States were among those represented
by their deputies.

Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State said it is not
compulsory for Buhari to preside over the FEC meeting.

He said, “That is why our constitution makes provision for a vice
president. Mr President is 70 something years old. And it is usual at that
age, as I have said, to have one medical challenge or the other.

“Even I, at 57, take medication for one ailment or the other. Our prayer is
that the president gets better and well. But the reason why he has the vice
president is precisely for this reason. It may not be because he has any
medical challenge that he didn’t attend FEC meeting. He may have other
pressing matters to attend to.

“I have not chaired every State Executive Council meeting even when I’m in
Kaduna because the deputy governor is there. We are not worried yet. We
have no concern to be worried. But we ask Nigerians to join all of us in
praying for the president’s improved health. It has improved in the last
few weeks, since he came back. And we will continue to pray for the
improvement of his health.”
