Boko Haram Completely Destroyed Bama–Rep. Onuigbo Cries Out

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Climate Change, Rep. Sam Onuigbo has lamented the extent of the devastation wrought on the town of Bama, in Borno State, by the deadly insurgents, Boko Haram.

Rep. Onuigbo stated this while speaking exclusively to Ikenga Chronicles, immediately after he returned to Abuja from Bama, last Saturday.

The honourable member, who represents Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South at the House of Representatives visited Bama on February, 10, in the company of the Governor of Borno,Kashim Shettima, Minister of Environment, Amina J. Mohammed, Minister of state,Environment,Ibrahim Jibrin,House Committee chairman on Environment and Habitat, Hon. Chidoka Obinna, as part of his committee oversight functions.

Speaking to Ikenga Chronicles, Rep. Onuigbo said;

“The devastation is too much! Boko Haram completely destroyed the town.”

“People are beginning to return, but it is a difficult process because they are all starting afresh.”

Explaining why he went to Bama, Rep. Onuigbo said;

“I was there as part my committee’s oversight functions to check out IDPs living condition in Bama and how the conditions affect the environment”

The honourable member called on the international community, the federal government and other Nigerians to do their best in helping the people of Bama, and other parts affected by insurgency settle back to normal life.
