Appeal Court Judgment An Attempt To Destablise PDP–Fayose

By Ikenga Chronicles February 18, 2017

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has described the judgement of the Appeal Court which re-instated the factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff as a persecution on the PDP, and a complete denigration of the tenets of democracy.

Fayose made this known in Abuja while reacting to the judgement.

According to the governor, the judgement completely went contrary to the wishes of the people, and stated that the matter will be taken all the way to the Supreme Court until justice is obtained;

“If the people truly symbolise what a party is, then the machinations of our detractors and the anti-democracy organs will not prevail at last.”

“Thank God we have another opportunity to seek justice at the Supreme Court, which I believe will not be delayed or denied, because when justice is delayed it is denied.”
“It is a party matter that must be addressed as soon as possible.The party will appeal the judgement as we believe in the ability of the judiciary to do justice,’’ he said.

Fayose, who saw the persecution as a necessary sacrifice in order to strengthen the party and the nation’s democracy urged all PDP supporters to remain calm and believe that justice will prevail;

“If this is the price to pay, to keep our democracy alive and opposition strengthened, we are prepared to go the whole hug and for a time like this,’’

He echoed the position of the PDP National Publicity Secretary Prince Dayo Adeyeye by affirming that PDP members loyal to the Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction of the party are in the majority, and comprise of top dogs such as governors, Senators, House of Representatives members, and others.
