APC: The Detergent That Washes Away Corruption

By Ikenga Chronicles November 21, 2016

President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war is gathering momentum. All you need to do, to become aware of this is to just look to the media. All over the media, there are several stories of trillions of naira being traced to several people, who are subsequently arrested. On the strength of that alone, one can see how effective the anti-corruption war has been so far. Never mind that nobody has actually been convicted. Disregard the fact that even though government claims to have recovered billions of dollars through this war, we still needed to borrow less than what was “recovered” to fund some projects. Never mind, never mind. The war is on, and the media has its coverage on lock-down.

But if you seek further proof of how effective this anti-corruption war has been, then look at the number of people crossing over to Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC).The APC, is a party made up of saints alone. Like the Minister of Transportation once said, “you cannot be corrupt and be in the APC”. So ample proof of the effectiveness of the anti-corruption war is the number of “former” corrupt politicians who have “converted” to sainthood by being washed clean by the APC detergent. These corrupt politicians who crossed over, in line with the president’s notion of fighting corruption, had genuinely shown a desire to become corruption-free, by deciding to join the party of saints. So by switching to the APC, they had chalked down some victories for the anti-corruption war.

Any Govt That Watches Its People Being Killed Everyday Has Failed – Amaechi

The most recent (Senator Yele Omogunwa’s was pretty lowkey) high profile convert was of course former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu. Orji, who has been having a running battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), must have consulted former Bayelsa State governor, Timipre Silva. Silva himself, who had a huge case of corruption miraculously dropped by the EFCC owing to his allegiance to President Buhari would have advised Orji that the only way to make heaven, is to be washed with APC detergent. And by that singular act of washing up with the APC detergent, Orji’s saintly status has become assured!

Presidency Exposes Details Of Agreements Signed By Nigeria, Morocco

And that is the good thing about President Buhari’s anti-corruption war. People who are misinformed like to say he goes after the opposition; that he instructs his security jackals to flout court orders and continue to detain people like Dasuki and Nnamdi Kanu whom the courts had granted bail, but that is not completely true. All our corruption fighting president is doing is to pressurize these people enough to accept to be washed clean by the APC detergent. He is only interested in swelling the ranks of saintly Nigerians, and once you accept to join the party (APC), all of your sins shall be forgotten, and everything will become new.

Fayose’s Ex-Attorney General Dumps PDP For APC

It is an interesting time that we live in. Our economy is reeling under the heavy blow of bad economic policies; the people are hungry; insecurity is felt in all parts of the country for the first time in decades. In the midst of it all, Mr. President maintains that what is key is to fight corruption.

16 Parties Eyeing Buhari’s Seat

Yet even his so called war against corruption is a sham. Double standards are employed in dealing with different sets of the accused. If you are part of the opposition, allegations are enough to get his hunt dogs after you. But if you are with the saintly APC, allegations (like the countless ones against Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi) are ploys by “haters” to bring you down. Different folks, different strokes.

Stop The Lies – APC Warns Okorocha

The only constant in Buhari’s famed war against corruption is that the APC is a detergent that washes away corruption! It will be interesting to see how far the charade will be put up, and maybe how long before the people rise up against it!
