APC National Headquarters Refuses To Pay Electricity Bills

By Ikenga Chronicles November 1, 2016

It was a sore sight to behold on Monday evening as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) disconnected electricity from the National Headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) located at Blantyre Street, Wuse 2 over none payment of bills.

Although the number of months owed by the party was not known, a party source stated that the total amount was N1.7 million of which N500, 000 has been paid.

The payment was made on October 24, even as the party Headquarters has been in darkness for over three weeks.

Recall that the Minister of Power Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola who is a chieftain of APC, had argued severally, that every government agency must pay its electricity bill for it to enjoy public power supply.

The party office runs on diesel for half day, while half of the day will be without light.

Another party source,  revealed that ”the Electricity bill was lying on the table of the party’s National Treasurer, Muhammed Gwagwarwa because of lack of money to offset it.”

Distribution companies have decried high profile debts ranging to tens of billions of naira.
